Welcome Leah, My Smart Hands Instructor!

Please help me in welcoming Leah Janowiak, a My Smart Hands ASL Instructor, to Harmony Garden Music Therapy Services!  Leah is bringing Baby Sing and Sign classes to Harmony Garden!

Sign and Sing Classes
Young children are active, creative and spontaneous. They love to sing, listen to music and dance to different songs that have various rhythms and beats.  For ages, children have loved to put actions to songs such as ‘The Itsy Bitsy Spider’ and ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.   In the ‘Sing & Sign’ class we teach the ASL signs that go along with traditional children’s songs as well as learn new modern songs.  We will learn how to sign the key words in each song, play games, read books and review signs.  But more importantly, we will laugh and have FUN!

A message from Leah:

Hello! My name is Leah Janowiak and I live in the great place of Jackson in beautiful Michigan. I love being a stay at home Mom and have reaped so many benefits of teaching ASL to my little one. I have always had a love and desire to learn ASL, especially since camp my senior year of college.

Camp was where I spent a lot of time with 2 deaf kids who taught me some basic sign language. Since high school, I went on to Spring Arbor University to get a Bachelor’s degree in ministry, have traveled the world, and got married to my best friend, Mark. We spent 2 years living abroad in Cameroon and shortly after, moved back to Jackson.

It’s here in Jackson, where we had our wonderful spunky little baby, Brie. After teaching in a variety of settings, age ranges, and subjects, I knew I wanted to teach ASL with my daughter. I have absolutely loved learning alongside her and have seen the benefits of ASL first hand. I am excited to share this wonderful, effective ASL program called My Smart Hands with others to help babies, parents and families to connect and communicate with each other, themselves and the world around them!
